The system has been designed to the same mechanical and transmission output standards as the popular Standard Definition system. This allows for easy upgrade of the system, whilst mitigating risk in the air certification process, by only having to replace the modulator / encoder from within the system.
This COFDM downlink system can transmit both Standard Definition and High Definition video products within one system.

ECS has a proven reputation for fixed wing and rotary wing downlink equipment and considerable development and trials have gone in to the design, certification and production of this new system.

The system can transmit 1 HDTV channel, 1 HDTV and 1 SDTV channel or 2 SDTV channels simultaneously, dependant on compression rates.
The HD digital down link system is fully compatible with all HD COFDM Receiver equipment. Selection of the receiver equipment will depend on the application of the receiver i.e. static or mobile. The ground receiving equipment is available, with HDTV and SDTV outputs.
The HD Digital downlink transmitter is available in set bands between 1.2 GHz and 5.4 GHz*
