The Enterprise Control Systems Ltd (ECS) System Control Unit (Night Vision Goggles) (SCU NVG) has been designed for airframe use with the ECS downlink Video Encoder Modulator (VEM2) and the ECS uplink Video Link Diversity Receiver-IF-28 (VLDR-IF-28) equipment.

General Description

The SCU NVG comprises of a small panel-mounted housing incorporating a 128 x 64 dot graphical Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and a five button keypad that has been designed for use with NVGs. The SCU NVG combines the functions of the Encryption Control Unit (ECU) and Remote Control Unit (RCU) to allow the integration of additional equipment on the airframe. A Radio Frequency (RF) switch control also allows the user to open and close RF switches. The control is dependent on the functionality of the system and allows a great deal of flexibility in how the SCU NVG is deployed and used.
The five soft keys on the face of the SCU NVG allow the user to control the following functionality:
• Transmitter on/off and mute
• User-defined downlink encryption code
• Uplink receiver decryption code
• Transmit mode
• Transmitter channel frequency
• Receiver channel frequency
• Auxiliary control data port
• RS232 / RS485 port for system control
• RF switch control.
