General Description

Standard Definition (SD) receiver. The Briefcase Receiver (HD) is capable of receiving both HD and SD video. An ECS COFDM transmission comprises of up to two video channels, one of which may be HD; each channel may have an audio overlay and the transmission may also contain Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) information from the transmitter.

The Briefcase Receiver front panel is presented to minimise complexity yet retain full functional control of the equipment. A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) provides information on signal strength, channel frequency and GPS information from the transmitter. A high brightness, LCD colour monitor is provided. External connectors for video, audio and data information contained in the downlink signal are available on the front panel of the receiver; video may be displayed on larger screens and GPS may be fed out to moving map systems.

The receiver may be powered by a 12 VDC or 100-240 VAC mains supply. An internal battery will provide the user with 90 minutes (nominal) of autonomous use. The receiver has up to 30 pre-configured frequency channels. The receiver will automatically select the matching code rate and demodulation scheme for any given input signal. Decryption is automatic.
