The Video Audio Encoder Module contains two video encoders and is capable of encoding video signals up to ‘full’ High Definition using Advanced Video Coding (H.264). The user is able to control which video inputs are encoded from up to four High Definition and two Standard Definition inputs via the Evenlode control software.

General Description

The Evenlode Video Audio Encoder Module is a lightweight, low power unit ruggedised for installation on to an air platform. The Module has been designed to be used in conjunction with the Evenlode Air Data Terminal. The Video Encoder Module provides a single Asynchronous Serial Interface signal containing an MPEG-2 Part 1 Transport Stream. The Video Encoder Module contains two video encoders. The H.264 encoding compression rate is adjustable for each source independently. The Module also contains two stereo audio inputs whose signals are independent of the video being encoded.
Control and monitoring of the Module is achieved via serial interface. When used in conjunction with the Evenlode data terminal this control and monitoring interface is presented as part of the Evenlode system Graphical User Interface.
The Video Encoder Module may also be used independently of the Evenlode system to multiplex multiple video and audio sources onto both an Asynchronous Serial Interface and Ethernet using unidirectional Application and Transport Layer protocols. Unicast, broadcast and multicast data transmission over Ethernet are supported.
At a weight of only 600 grams (approx) and a size of 139x38x150 mm (approx) the Module is suitable for lightweight air platforms. The module incorporates Aluminium housing and rugged connectors.
