The Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (COFDM) Ground Station Receiver System Rack consists of all the components of a High Definition (HD) or Standard Definition (SD) Diversity Receiver System housed in a 16U high 19’’ rack cabinet.

General Description

External to the rack cabinet are two antennas for diversity reception and a Global Positioning System (GPS) antenna. GPS information is multiplexed into the transport stream at the aircraft transmitter is then decoded within the COFDM base station receiver. This GPS information is used by the Antenna Control Unit (ACU) to control the base station switched Multi Sector Antenna (MSA). A GPS NMEA 0183 output from the COFDM Ground Station is provided to allow the user to view the transmitter’s GPS location on an external Graphical Information System (GIS) display.
An omnidirectional antenna is used on the second input to the diversity receiver. Using this system with two antennas in diversity improves link range; using the combined signal from both antennas also provides a link more resilient to multipath interference.
The COFDM HD diversity receiver outputs the HD signal in component format (YPRPB) or as an HD-SDI (SMPTE 292M) video port. If the transmitted signal is a Standard Definition (SD) signal then the video will be outputted via a CVBS (Composite), Y/C (S-Video BNCs) or SD-SDI (SMPTE 259M) video port as required. Selection of the video displayed on the monitor is made via the monitor front panel. The 20’’ monitor has video loop through for all video input; these loop-throughs are fed to an interface panel on the rack. This interface panel can be fitted .to the front or rear of the rack.

Audio Output: MPEG L1 x 2 for Video Channel A and B configured as required and in accordance with the transmitter input configuration.
Decryption: Substitution Cipher Encryption or Advanced Encryption
